In this guide

1. The ₹5,000 allocation
2. Targeting on a small budget
3. What creative works on a small budget
4. What to measure
5. When to scale

₹5,000 per month is about ₹165 per day. That sounds like nothing, but for a local service business targeting a specific city or neighbourhood, it's enough to generate consistent enquiries when spent intelligently.

## The ₹5,000 allocation

Week 1-2 (₹2,000): Test two ad creatives targeting your core audience. Week 3 (₹1,500): Kill the underperforming creative, put budget into the winner. Week 4 (₹1,500): Scale the winning creative with a lookalike audience. This test-and-iterate pattern beats "set and forget" every time.

## Targeting on a small budget

**Go hyper-local.** Don't target all of India. Don't even target all of your city. Target a 5-10 km radius around your business location. This keeps your CPM (cost per thousand impressions) low and ensures every rupee reaches people who could actually walk through your door.

**Layer demographics.** If you're a women's salon, target women 18-45. If you're a children's coaching class, target parents 28-45. Narrow targeting means less waste.

**Custom audiences first.** Upload your existing customer list (phone numbers or emails). Create a lookalike audience from this list. People who resemble your existing customers convert at 2-3× the rate of cold audiences.

## What creative works on a small budget

Video outperforms images, but short video. 15-30 second clips of your work. A haircut transformation, a before/after home renovation, a satisfied customer. Outperform polished brand videos because they feel authentic. Shoot on your phone. Real beats perfect.

For copy: lead with the benefit, not the feature. "Get healthy-looking skin in 45 minutes" converts better than "We offer facials and skin treatments." Keep the headline under 10 words and include a clear CTA. "Book now for ₹499" or "Free consultation this week."

## What to measure

At ₹5,000/month, focus on Cost Per Lead (CPL) and not vanity metrics like reach or impressions. A campaign that reaches 10,000 people but generates no enquiries is a failure. A campaign that reaches 2,000 people and generates 15 enquiries is a win. Track leads. Calls, messages, form fills. Not eyeballs.

## When to scale

Once you have a winning creative with a CPL under ₹150-200 (typical for local service businesses), increase budget by 20-30% per week. Scaling too fast resets the learning phase. Scaling gradually compounds results.

Facebook ads work at ₹5,000 when you respect the budget. Target tight, test fast, and double down on what converts.
